Have you ever wondered what guides you?
Do you seek to understand the deeper
meaning of life, a deeper understanding of yourself and your purpose
in life?
Spirituality is a journey of connecting
to that Inner Spirit or Higher Self that guides us - a connection to
that part of ourselves that knows our purpose and yearns to live it.
It is to “know thyself” on a deeper level.
We are often taught through our religious
teachings to worship the idea of a higher power. But we are also
often taught a concept that the Divine is separate from us; that this
Divine is all-powerful, leaving us feel powerless. And we may
even be taught that this Divine spirit is vengeful and punishing, should
we ‘sin’ in some way. This belief can leave us feeling guilt
and shame. A belief that the Creator is separate from us, that
we are separate from our Creator can leave us feeling disconnected.
The Soul yearns to feel connection
with its source and spirituality is the pursuit of this connection.
There are many traditions and spiritual
practices that promote the concept that we are one with God - a concept
that feeds a feeling of connectedness. This is what the soul desires.
Think of the Creator as the Source
of all that is – a spirit and energy that permeates everything.
In every rock, tree and animal on Earth and all that is contained within
the Universe – more than our minds can imagine.
It is this spirit and energy from which
we were created. Our soul, the very essence of who we are, was
created as a part of this Source of All That IS. We are not separate
from this spirit but rather completely and intricately connected.
Everyone is; we all are!
Our soul’s purpose, our only purpose,
is to reconnect with that Source; to come to know God – to remember,
actually.
A belief that you are separate from
your Source feeds all kinds of negative feelings and ideas. All
fears stem from this concept.
A belief that you are One with your
Source feeds all kinds of positive feelings and ideas. This belief
will move you towards Love and away from Fear.
Admittedly it may not be easy to change
one’s core belief. Most of our institutions – government,
education, and religions – actually promote the idea of separateness.
To move ourselves towards the concept of oneness means moving away from
the ideas of conventional society that don’t serve this idea.
This takes some determination.
But let me tell you, once you open
the door and begin to connect to that Higher Power, there IS no closing
it! Your soul will demand that you keep opening the door.
You see, IT wants that connection.
On some level, each of us wants that
connection.
For some, the door will open bit by
bit. Progress or evolution will take some time, but progress it
will be. You will know because you will feel your soul’s
joy at making that connection.
For others, the door will open slightly
and then be thrown wide open by some event or circumstance. Your
soul will sing its praises, happy to be freed from the confines of fear.
Once you have begun to open the door,
you will look for ways to keep it open – ways to open it further.
Be open to new ideas and new ways of
thinking. There are many ways to God, be open to them all.
Read books, listen to audio tapes,
attend conferences and seminars, search the internet. There is

Surround yourself with others that
support your growth. And sometimes this means moving away from
the situations and people that are not serving you.
Explore, re-evaluate your beliefs.
Study yourself. There is no one truth. There is only the
truth that serves you at the moment. It will change. You
will change. This is evolution. It can be a life- long pursuit
– if you want it to be – and one that will be joyous because you
will be feeding your soul.
Embrace nature. Be in awe of
God’s creations. Live in awe.
Take care of your body and your mind.
You are a unified Being – body, mind and spirit. Feed each with healthy,
life supporting activities.
